Doreen Hill and Graham Hill

Graham Hill won 7 individual gold medals, plus three relay gold medals swimming for his province Natal, at the South African Swimming Championships at Bloemfontein in 1985, coached by his mother Doreen Hill.

Today Graham Hill is also a swimming coach in Natal, where he is head coach at the Seagull Swimming Club based in Pinetown. Chad le Clos was a Graham Hill swimmer before moving to Cape Town in 2016, as were Olympians Darian Townsend, Melissa Corfe and Silever medallist Terrence Parkin. .

Doreen and local swimming legend Graham Hill - have both made a big impact on Natal swimming.

Doreen is a former SA Champion and National coach, who started the Seagulls club in 1987. Doreen produced 8 Springboks during her coaching career, included in the 8 - her son Graham Hill. 

Seagulls Swimming Club has over the years trained many swimmers who have reached National and International levels. At present Seagulls hold a club membership of 125 swimmers, ranging from “learn to swim” to Olympic competitors at our branches in Pinetown (main branch), Berea West, Bluff, Cowies Hill Park and Glenwood, and is affiliated to KwaZulu Natal Aquatics (KZNA) and Swimming South Africa (SSA).

Besides his achievements as a pool swimmer, Graham Hill is also a Springbok Surf Lifesaver, and captained his Durban Surf Lifesaving club to the world title in 2004.


 

 

 

Both Graham Hill and Chad le Clos are former pupils of the Westville Boys High School.  Here Graham Hill appears with coach Owen Kuyper, and other notables like Herman Chalupsky and Rory Callahan.
