Border Pools and Places

Border was a province in South African sports situated between Eastern Province and the Transkei. It included the old city of East London, as well as a number of well-known schools in the King William's Town area. The South African aquatic championships of 1927 were held at the original beachfront Orient Baths in East London. The municipal Joan Harrison pool was named after the local girl who won a gold medal at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki.
